There are some places in Southern California so incredibly breathtaking, you forget where you are for a second. Malibu Rocky Oaks is one of those places.

And it was there, perched on the top of a Malibu mountain, that Jennifer and Elliott said their vows to one another, choking back tears (there was much debate about who would cry first — spoiler: it was Elliott). As you’d expect from a doctor and meticulous planner, Jennifer had the details of the day orchestrated months in advance — hours upon hours of preparation — and it all culminated in that single instant. You can understand the emotion behind those vows — it was a pretty special moment to be a part of.

There were so many awe-inspiring aspects to this day, mountaintop vista aside, between the vineyard photo sessions, live doves, monogramed ice sculptures, fields upon fields of floral decorations, incredible music, a perfect sunset, dare we go on?  Really, 90 seconds isn’t long enough to share everything from that day. But here are some of our absolute favorites.

A huge shoutout to Sterling Engagements Inc. for making our lives incredibly easy while at the same time accomplishing the daunting task of turning a castle on a mountain into the perfect host for a day’s worth of wedding festivities. Couldn’t have asked for better photographers than Callaway Gable , seriously some of the best at what they do. And of course we’d be remiss if we didn’t thank our friends at Make-Up TherapyThe Food MattersLuxe LinenFantasy FrostingsClassic Party RentalsA Rental ConnectionLounge Appeal, Super Cool Creamery, Matthew Evilsizor and Conscious Bean, Amber Event ProductionWhite Dove ReleaseShawna Yamamoto Event Design’s amazing floral collection and of course, Malibu Rocky Oaks Estate Vineyards for making a memorable day into an unforgettable one.

Kelli and Connor — these two can throw a party. We aren’t surprised, really. Some of you may remember (well at least we do) that this isn’t the first Hall wedding we’ve been a part of. Connor’s brother Brett served as his best man— and we had the pleasure of filming the wedding of Brett and his now-wife Ashley three years ago (Throwback #1, check out the trailer here). Ashley is also one of Kelli’s bridesmaids, and makes a cameo in this newest film. And, where it all began, four years ago we had the pleasure of filming Connor’s sister Lauren on her special day with Dorian (check out Throwback trailer #2 here). So obviously we were pretty pumped when Kelli and Connor reached out to let us know they were getting married, and wanted us to be a part of it.

We don’t want to make this out to be a Just-Another-Hall-Gets-Married type of day. Cliché aside, Kelli and Connor really ARE the light in pretty much any room they walk into. That much is clear from the quality (and sheer quantity, they’re very popular, as it seems) of the friends they have. Out of the hours of footage of dancing, laughing, singing, and oh so much more laughing — it was tough to pick a few moments that stood out the most. In the end, it’s the moments you’re about to see that point to why Kelli and Connor are incredible together; both of them really were just giddy that they were getting married to each other. We’d expect nothing less from the Hall family.

A special thanks to Bash Please — we always love working alongside the talented girls who make the day run so smoothly and elegantly, Paige and Keith from Paige Jones photography who are out of this world talented (and a blast to work alongside) and of course all the folks who made the day such a success including the rocking crew of Rembrandt & That Vibe, Susiecakes, Mirror Mirror, Laguna Beach Presbyterian Church and the Newport Beach Country Club.

What a whirlwind of a September it’s been.

There’s been far too many early morning call times, late night editing sessions and days of reviewing footage for us to add them all up into man-hours the past few weeks so take our word for it. We’ve been all over the place.

TRX happened to be one of those clients that threw up a prayer on a last-minute project they really wanted to do, but needed a lot of help to pull off. They were about to announce a partnership with Under Armour, and wanted a downloadable workout for the occasion.

So TRX asked us, could we track down venue for a cool workout set, then produce, film and edit a 25-minute scripted workout on a one-week turnaround? (Hint: we’re not very good at saying no).

We’re proud of the fact that we pulled this one off with flying colors. Less than a week after going live, the workout trailer already has a combined 80,000 views on Facebook and Youtube. Not bad for a week’s work!  Are we allowed to call ourselves Shredded Films now?

Do us a favor and check out the work, and a very cool partnership (also, a free TRX workout filmed by your favorite film team) at the link below. A special thanks to TRX for the project which, late nights aside, was a blast to be a part of and of course to our dear friend Brandon Crouch, who it turns out is not just a stellar beer league defenseman but a lighting guru and dolly operator extroardinaire.

Hey there Internet,

We’ve got a brand-spanking-new reel to share and we hope you’re half as excited to watch it as we are to share it. The past few years some big companies have walked through our doors — Pernod Ricard, VIZIO, mophie, CHOC, Mitsubishi, DirecTV, Mission Hockey, and the Anaheim Ducks to name a few — and it has been pretty cool to see our work blasted across the country on television stations and websites that, honestly, we didn’t think we’d ever be on (yeah, we’re patting ourselves on the back a little).

And sure, our toy collection has expanded in recent years as we’ve upgraded to new cameras, drones and stabilizers that cost nerve-wracking amounts of money, but we also like to think that we’ve stayed pretty true to our roots as visual storytellers. You’ll see those very same elements of storytelling so integral to our studio’s foundation in the newest compilation of our best work; if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, right? So watch it, share it and as always thanks for following what we do.

Cheers,

The Threaded Films Team

Sydnie and Sahar are realists, the groom’s Best Man, Shane Demello explained. Whenever there’s been any sort of conflict over the six years they’ve been together, the pair has always confronted it head on and emerged from the ensuing discussions stronger and more in love than ever.

It’s a story we kept hearing over and over at their wedding — that the emotionally mature couple has found strength in each other ever since they met through a friend back in Arizona.

After spending the day with these two, we have just the moment to put this in perspective.

Sitting some 100 yards below the helipad that served as the ceremony site (yep, we said helipad) is a granite thumb of boulder protruding from the mountain. It’s a pretty majestic spot that juts out from the Malibu Rocky Oak grounds, and overlooks the Malibu valley stretching out to the west below. Sydnie had requested that after the ceremony, they do a brief sunset photo session from the rock, which we were all excited for — who doesn’t love epic sunset photos? When sunset rolled around it was every bit as picturesque as we’d imagined, but what we hadn’t planned for were the chilly, ocean-driven 20 mile-per-hour winds that buffeted the rocky outcrop as the evening fog began to seep off the coast and pour into the valley. Plus, Sydnie and Sahar had to find a way up there. Cue epic music.

Yet here was Sydnie in her wedding gown just an hour after being married, gamely holding onto Sahar’s hand as the determined couple bouldered/hiked/crawled up the side of a mountain for the picture of a lifetime. After some careful treading they were able to scramble to the top of the boulder.

It’s a moment we — and no doubt Sydnie and Sahar — will never forget. Gusty ocean winds were swirling around the just-married couple as the sun sank behind them. And full behind-the-scenes disclosure, Sydnie (ok, everybody) was freezing in the chilly evening breeze. But the pictures and film tell another story: Sydnie and Sahar stood on that freezing rock unfazed, holding onto one other, each made a little bit stronger (or at least, a little less cold) by each other’s presence. They stuck it out on that spot for several minutes before they had enough. And it was totally worth it, as you’ll see.

As always, thanks so much to Alexandra and her entire team at Sterling Engagements who put on such a gorgeous wedding, the incredible Malibu Rocky Oak Vineyard Estates for hosting,  Lilla Bello for fantastic floral arrangements, the lovely ladies at Design Visage and Makeup Therapy, Dash Entertainment, Amber Event Productions, The Food Matters, El Canito Cigar Events, Pacific Strings Trio, Cocktail Concierge, Fantasy Frostings, Luxe Linen, Prim and Pixie, Maya Myers Photography who is a blast to work alongside, and of course Sydnie and Sahar for sharing their day, so many laughs and showing off their rock climbing skills in full wedding attire.
