Alright, back to work America. Is it Friday yet?

We had a fun time this weekend getting out to enjoy our beautiful country’s festivities. Here’s a few of our favorite shots from the weekend, Ben jumped behind the lens to capture some of Jackson Hole’s brilliant fireworks display. They were too good not to share.

But like you, we’re back at it in the office now. We have some big projects we’re working on and can’t wait to share them with you in the near future. Look for the goodies here on our blog as well as Facebook and Instagram.

Hope you’re 4th was as dynamite — see what we did there — as ours was. Stay tuned for more good stuff. Here’s to another great one, America.

Cheers,

Steve, Matt and Ben

There’s nothing more gratifying than seeing good things happen to good people. That’s why we were so excited to find out that LoveLuxeLife just featured one of our favorite couples’ special day – Leslie and Grant.  LoveLuxeLife is a fantastic lifestyle site featuring the very best of wedding and events, so we treat it as an honor to have been a part of such a well-planned and beautiful day. Be sure to check out the post (click linked image below); it highlights some of the incredible details that made the day so special.

What we love most about Grant and Leslie is that they are passionate. Passionate about their careers, passionate about the details and timing of their wedding, passionate when they tell jokes, passionate about the  family surrounding them, and passionate about one another. So passionate in fact, that they struggled endlessly to keep it together during their vows, but let’s be honest. . . . that’s what it’s all about, right?  Here it is in all it’s glory, Leslie and Grant’s full feature film:

A HUGE shout out to Danny Farrell from NYC DJ’s for his help in making the presentation go off without a hitch at the reception and another nod to Josh Elliot from Josh Elliott Photography for being so much fun to work with!

If there’s one thing we love, it’s a good story.  That’s what makes a day like Cayla and Chad’s so incredibly special for us, and we couldn’t have been more excited to be a part of it.

Pelican Hill is truly one of those slices of paradise in Orange County. Perched some 300 feet above Newport Beach on a 500-acre mediterranean-inspired landscape beset with century-old olive trees, the resort offers sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and California coastline.  It was to this gorgeous resort that Chad invited then-girlfriend Cayla to a weekend getaway in December 2013.  He’d arranged the weekend stay at the villa, limousine rides, candlelit dinners — all the romantic necessities were in place.  Way to go Chad.  Cayla had a feeling the question was coming that weekend — Chad had asked for her ring size several weeks before— but still admits the moment caught her by surprise.

The pair were standing beneath the arching rotunda — Cayla snapping photos of the sunset over Catalina— when Chad asked Cayla to turn around for a moment. There he knelt on one knee, ring outstretched.  The photographer he’d hired to hide in the bushes crouched nearby, not-so-subtly capturing the surprise and beauty of the moment (again, way to go Chad).  Cayla, after overcoming the initial shock, of course said yes.  So nervous and excited were the couple-to-be that evening that neither of the self-proclaimed foodies were able to eat.  That says something.

That incredible evening, setting and really the entire weekend were all so fittingly perfect of the fun and loving couple that Chad and Cayla are.  That’s why we were thrilled to find that 18 months later, Chad and Cayla decided to return to the same spot to begin their life together as Mr. and Mrs. Kurthy.

As the day approached, there was growing concern that the intermittent showers passing through Southern California would put a damper on an otherwise beautiful day.  Downpours ensued the night before.  Umbrellas were ordered as a backup plan.  The day arrived with clouds and intermittent morning showers.  But the clouds cleared and the sun shone through as Cayla and Chad said their vows beneath the very same rotunda Chad had proposed at a year and a half ago.

We’d like to echo the remark so eloquently put by the officiant during the ceremony:

“They started this journey in December 2013 and its a great thrill to share this special moment with them at the very place where this journey began.”

We have a confession. Last year amidst one of the craziest stretches of projects our studio has seen we made an exciting new hire and DIDN’T TELL ANYONE. And you know what? So seamless was his transition into the fold of our little studio that we kind of forgot. Or we didn’t and liked to think of him as our secret weapon. He’s the tool no one knew we had. The mystery ingredient that you don’t know is there. It’s like we had an extra pair of gloves the whole time.

But we couldn’t keep him to ourselves forever.

We’re excited to announce the newest member of Threaded Films, Matt Hanlon.  Matt is a spry, 23-year old ball of creative energy who left the Orange County Register last year where he worked as a sports writer to join us in the video world.  The Northern California native (we don’t hold that against him) fits in well as he shares our passion for storytelling, good humor and of course ice hockey.  Rumors that he was offered a job after a well-placed pass to Steve in a beer league victory last fall are unconfirmed.

World, say hello to Matt.  Matt, world.  We expect big things from him, and look forward to watching the budding cinematographer blossom into a talented professional over the years.  We hope he’ll gradually grow out of his bad pun phase.  Don’t tell him we said this, but we’re incredibly excited about the addition of Matt to our team; he’ll help us to continue our growth as a studio and enable us to tackle even more fun projects.  We’re incredibly excited about what the future holds for Threaded Films and hope you are too.

Alyssa and Tanner are one of those couples you can’t not love hanging out with. The type of people that pull you in with such warmth and charisma, you feel like you’ve known them forever even if you’ve only just met them. We love that Tanner is the perfect gentleman, the romantic who hikes with a bottle of champagne in his backpack to pull out and surprise Alyssa, the slightly neurotic (we mean that in the best way, Tanner) cleaner, and meticulous planner who — Alyssa admitted — shouldered a lot of wedding planning because apparently he wears the organizing pants in the relationship (and of course, we see nothing wrong with that). And Alyssa is every bit the perfect, gorgeous counterpart: her father’s daughter, athletic and straightforward, doting, charming and frequently laughing (Tanner may also have something to do with this). A pretty all around amazing couple to spend time with, we think.

We had a blast getting to know Alyssa and Tanner; and we find ourselves saying this frequently — Tanner and Alyssa being no exception – we really do enjoy being friends with the couples we work with. This is definitely one of those films we find ourselves laughing as we edit in the studio, reliving the day. Plus, these two know how to write loving, touching and hilarious vows, don’t they?

Much gratitude to Holly Orr and the entire Paper Heart Events‘ team for a stunning evening as well as our skilled friends at Walter Wilson Photography, you guys were a treat to work with. And of course there are so many others to recognize: Bel-Air Bay Club (a gorgeous venue we recommend everyone check out) and its hard-working staff , the talented Mirror Mirror Beauty, ever-delicious Sweet Art Bake Shop for the tasty treats, the articulate prose of officiant Jeff Bruecker, and DJ Angel Hernandez, who rocked the house — a huge thanks to you guys and anybody else who helped make the evening a success, and our lives much easier.

With that, we hope you enjoyed our last trailer for 2016, it’s been another great year at Threaded. Thanks to all who were a part of it. Until next year!
